:: Frequently Asked Questions - FAQ's

Though Mail Attender solves many business problems, companies are very cautious in changing their Lotus Notes infrastructure. Mail Attender was designed to be as non-invasive as possible, due to the knowledge that we gathered as we were researching the need for this product.

Mail Attender is comprised of two databases (Mail Attender and Mail Attender Archive) and is self-contained, meaning that it does NOT require any changes to any other application. Both the Mail Attender and Mail Attender Archive databases must exist on every server that requires processing.

Must I change the Mail Templates for Mail Attender to run?
You do NOT need to change the Mail Templates to use the core Mail Attender features (i.e. Attachments, Documents...). However, there are some ancillary features of Mail Attender that would not be available if the Mail Template was not changed (e.g. Last Opened Date)

What access does Mail Attender need?
Mail Attender itself requires no special access. However, the signer of the Mail Attender Agents must have Manager access to the Mail databases, Administration rights on the Server, and Restricted LotusScript Agent rights.

RETURN ON INVESTMENT

What kind of ROI does Mail Attender provide?
There are two ways to realize the ROI. The first is from a reduction of legal exposure. This could be due to the enforcement of a document retention policy, or elimination of 'inappropriate' attachments circulating within the company. The second ROI benefit is from space reclamation, due to document, attachment or quota management. One Mail Attender customer reported that they reclaimed almost 200 GB of storage from the first Mail Attender document process.

"Excellent product that is saving us a lot of money. At Invacare, we're able to keep the size of our mail files flat by purging as much information as we accumulate in a given month. In fact, we haven't added disk space to our mail server since the purchase of Mail Attender two years ago. And with the flexibility of setting up different mail restrictions for different types of folders, we never have any complaints."
